Diplomacy

As you might have noticed there is an entire Tech Tree dedicated to Diplomacy, all these techs have various different effects on your game and they might include unlocking special units for recruitment to new improvements for your cities. You can find a list of the technologies in the Technologies page for both Kingdoms and Empire factions.

Special Trainable Units - some diplo techs enable you to befriend certain races, enabling you to recruit them.

Minor Factions - Some rare powerful items can be bought at times in these faction's shops.
